Boys swim had a great evening on Tuesday! Even though the result wasn't in the team's favor, the Tars gave the LCN Crusaders a run with a final score LCN 93 and Anchor Bay 92. LCN was led with first place finishes in 11 out of 12 events. Anchor Bay boys flexed their depth as they went 2nd, 3rd, 5th in three events and 2nd, 3rd, 4th in two events. Divers had the only win on the evening led by Adam Schmehl who broke the varsity record with a score of 243.60 (last held by head dive coach Shawn Daly 238.45). Congratulations, Adam! The divers gave the team a chance to upset LCN as they dove to 1st, 2nd and 4th place finishes scoring 9 points for that event. Coach was extremely pleased with a lot of the swims and the LCN coach was impressed with Tars' depth!! Our swim team had 51% season best times/scores for all individual swims/dives. "This was the closest meet in this format with LCN that we have had since I have been coaching," said Head Coach Kevin Ott. It was exciting all the way to the end where the winner of the 400 Free Relay would take the victory as the Tars went up by one point after the 100 backstroke. The team was just shy of the win though getting out-touched by .80 of a second. "A loss like this should just be a reminder to focus on the details and every fraction of a second counts. It should also make us realize we are right there with one on the top teams in the white division and need to get and stay motivated to challenge them at the division meet," said Coach Ott.
