For Anchor Bay, this was something coach Buddy VanWieringen saw coming.
"Fantastic," VanWieringen said when asked how his team bowled. "We've got a great team this year and I've been telling them all year we've got enough talent to win this thing.
"They're the ones that held it together," VanWieringen added. "There's a lot of pressure on these girls. They've been good all year."
Anchor Bay went wire-to-wire to reach the state finals for the first time since 2012.
"We've got four seniors on the team," VanWieringen said. "This year it was very important to them."
"They've been waiting for this for a long time," said VanWieringen, who's in his 13th season at Anchor Bay.
The Tars won Division 1 state titles in 2011 and 2007 and finished runner up in 2012 and 2009.
State finals in all divisions are next Friday and Saturday. Division 1 is at Thunderbowl in Allen Park; Division 2 at Century Bowl in Waterford; Division 3 at Northway Lanes in Muskegon, and Division 4 at M-66 Bowl in Battle Creek.
