Soccer finishes season with accolades and awards

The Anchor Bay Tar's young soccer team finished off the season in the middle of the MAC White conference with a 5-5-2 record. The Junior Varsity team ended win an impressive 13-2-3 record. With only 5 seniors on this year's varsity squad, the future looks very bright.

The team's performance in the classroom was very impressive. The team earned League, County, State and National recognition for their efforts in the classroom. Additionally, the individual performances by many members of the squad were rewarded.

-All MAC Academic Inividual: Glinski, Slezak, Muzia, DeWulf, Heskett, Prill, Ristch, Pedro, Bezanovski, Bezanovski, Biland, Halanski, Hunegnaw, and Usteski

-All MAC Academic Team: the team had a 3.46 GPA

-All State Academic Individual: Seniors- Bezanovski, Biland, Halanski, Hunegnaw, Usteski

-All State Academic Team

-National ALL Academic Team

-National Senior Excellence Award- Alex Bezanovski


The following individuals were acknowledged by area coaches for their play on the pitch:

-ALL MAC Team: Cody Smith, Matt Muzia, Jacob DeWulf

-District Team: Cody Smith, Matt Muzia, Zack Slezak

Tar of the Year, nominated by teammates, was awarded to Senior Captain Al Biland.

Lastly, the Justin Mello Award, an award named after a proud soccer player, exemplary student athlete, who embodied what it is to be a Tar, was bestowed on Al Biland by the coaching staff.
